Big Bear Valley Habitat for Humanity is a part of the drive to build affordable housing for working families in this area. It is not a give-away program. Partner families must put in over 500 hours of labor and volunteers from the community add hundreds of hours of labor, cash, services and construction materials to complete each home. Recipients must qualify for the mortgage and make their payments. BBV Habitat must buy the land and purchase materials for construction.
MISSION: To provide affordable housing for low income families. We are dedicated to those families, here in the Valley, willing to partner with us to help Habitat International achieve it's goal of decent homes for all.
As with any voluteer organization we are dependent on the generous support of many. Most fortunately, the Big Bear Valley Habitat organization is blessed with the giving spirit of many, many considerate and dedicated people and organizations. We can always use more help. We rely on the generosity of the community to donate their time, talents, labor and resources in achieving our goals.
As of now we are starting a major effort to construct our 3rd home. We have purchased a lot in Erwin Lake, planning efforts are underway, and a family selection process has been initiated.
